Quick answer — starting with a question we should ask honestly: eHopper runs on Windows PCs, Android tablets, iPads and Poynt terminals. So the first question is not which terminal, but whether you need one.
Buy a Windows terminal if you want a fixed counter till with peripheral freedom — any printer with a Windows driver, a wired cash drawer, a USB scanner. The NB-POS750 (15.6″ 1920×1080, 4–8GB, SSD) is the default. Choose a tablet if portability matters more — but know that on Android the printer must then be a network printer, which narrows what you can buy.
The platform decision comes before the hardware decision
Most POS systems make this choice for you. eHopper does not, and the trade-off is real in both directions.

If you are buying a Windows terminal
eHopper's Windows app is a locally-installed application against a cloud back office — a conventional arrangement with conventional requirements.

One eHopper-specific note: on Windows, the printer driver must be installed before eHopper can use the printer. That is a commissioning step, and it is worth doing at imaging time rather than at the counter.
The mixed estate is legitimate here
Because eHopper spans platforms, one arrangement worth considering: a Windows terminal at the counter for the main till, with tablets for the floor at busy times or for events.
Two things to plan for if you do:
- Printing: specify the LAN variant of the receipt printer. It then serves both — the Windows till can print to it over the network, and the tablets can discover it.
- The drawer stays with the printer. Wherever the tablet goes, the drawer sits at the counter, wired to the printer by RJ11.
That single decision — LAN rather than USB — is what keeps both options open. It costs very little at the point of order and is expensive to retrofit.
Built-in printer or separate?
Separate, for eHopper. A LAN printer that both platforms can reach is more useful than one bonded to a Windows terminal, and the built-in-printer models are the lower-specified machines. If the counter is genuinely tiny and Windows is certain, the integrated option is reasonable — it just closes the tablet door.
